Every year CSP involves more than 140 people, for the most part young researchers who are actively engaged in research projects developed in cooperation with Universities and in innovation programmes for their customers. It also has, each year, more than 70 consultancy and R&D contracts for more than 25 public and private bodies. CSP is an italian research laboratory, with UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification, and is a member of various associations and consortiums, including the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Committee of the European Galileo Consortium.
Most of CSP’s initiatives are carried out in collaboration with the University. To this end CSP has developed a series of research laboratories dedicated to the latest technologies, which involve CSP technical management and University scientific management. Laboratories operate on the basis of annual research plans. CSP, within the context of its considerable international activity, takes part in numerous research and development actions, mainly co-financed by the European Union relative to subjects such as latest generation networks, intelligent environments and socioeconomic inclusion.
CSP’s experiences related with creative industries
CSP’s experiences related with creative industry are mainly in collaboration with University and local PA. Main experiences are in the field of net/web tv, digital radio. CSP has been developing a model/platform for user generated content, also video, by local communities (Orsotv and Orsoradio), by communities of schools (Dschola and Dschola TV), by university students communities (Extracampus). Making the most of these experiences and of the research activity of the Digital Television Laboratory, that has been active for several years, CSP is taking a role in the process of transition to digital television that the Piedmont Region will undertake in the following years as pilot big territory in Italy. Among others, an interesting experience has been an advanced training for press professionals about ICT innovation and culture in collaboration. Moreover, CSP has a stable network of relationship with creative “enterprises” and organisations, both SMEs, and non-profit organisations, development agencies, regional players promoting and supporting content, cultural and creative industry.
